Anchored Family Learning Center, a non-profit organization, was founded by four moms who had a vision and felt a calling to start an alternative learning program in their community. One with an emphasis on Christian values and common ground among families.

Sharla, Jenna, Jessica and Sarah have worked together to fill a specific need; the need for a quality, affordable education and faith-based curriculum. A homeschool community that would provide relief to the full-time homeschooling mom and a place of peace for the mom struggling to keep up with various co-ops and activities.

Together they came up with Anchored Family Learning Center, a parent-volunteer led program that runs two days a week. The volunteer schedule will allow for some days off for parent volunteers during the month, knowing your children are learning with quality curriculum and biblically sound principals while they are on campus. Parents work together on a rotating volunteer schedule to serve as "parent-teachers" leading individual classes through their homeschool curricula, science experiments, crafts and activities. We use easy to follow lesson plans so all families can stay on track while we homeschool together.

All curriculum has been carefully researched and chosen by AFLC for use on campus days and at home learning days. Anchored is set up as a four day school week leaving you the parent with the flexibility and freedom to supplement your child's education as you wish.

The goal of Anchored is to provide an interactive learning environment, a place for children to build relationships with other homeschooling students and a community of support for homeschool educators. It is essentially "homeschool together" AFLC firmly believes that parents are most able to teach their children and are the ones ultimately responsible  for their children's education. Anchored Family Learning Center is not a private school or supplemental co-op. It is a group of parents sharing teaching days and using the same curriculum as the  other families in Anchored to educate their children.

Sarah Traffie

Sarah has been homeschooling for 14 years and is passionate about education. Whether it is issues that affect public school students or homeschooling families. She is an advocate for children. Sarah is also passionate about childhood cancer awareness. Her beloved eleven year old son Keaton is waiting for her in heaven and she feels strongly about supporting and raising awareness for kids on the same cancer journey Keaton traveled. She is an avid researcher and loves staying up to date on new curricula.

Sharla Stenersen

Sharla has been homeschooling for nine years. Sharla brings her love of an active, living education to Anchored. She has written her own exciting curriculum and loves to see students having fun while learning. Hands-on activities, group projects, creative unit studies and finding joy in learning for both parents and students is her passion. She loves encouraging new to homeschooling families. One of her favorite activities is talking all about homeschooling!
